IPv6 not supported for putty terminal (SSH) connections

Hi there,

as my provider is increasing the costs for IPv4 I move all my SSH and OS stuff to IPv6. When I try to connect to an IPv6 host via the putty terminal plugin I get the error "Unable to open connection to ... Host does not exist". IPv6 SSH works when using rebex plugin though, but I need SSH tunneling as I won't expose all stuff to the external world and this is only supported via putty plugin or with Royal Server which I haven't (right now at least).

- I tried putty standalone and it works (tested with version 0.75)

- I also tried to define my putty executable in the settings of the putty terminal plugin but it also does not work. My guess is a check before the connection is really opened.

- tried by defining the IP directly and by using AAAA dns entry. Both working with rebex

- non standard SSH port (but the alternate port is defined ;-) )

Kind regards,

Stefan

Sorry... RoyalTS 6.0.50710

Hi Stefan,

have you tried setting the Internet Protocol Version to IPv6 within the Advanced settings of your putty connection?

Let me know if that worked for you or if you need further assistance!

best regards,

Christoph

Many thanks. This worked. For some reason it was also set to ipv4 instead of auto.

Kind regards,

Stefan

Glad this worked for you.

Let me know if you need anything else

best regards,

Christoph
