Connecting to Windows Server Core

Odd that there seems to be zero info on this.


When we RoyalTS normally to a Core server, we get message saying 

"Logon Failed

You are connected to the remote computer. However, an error occured

while an initial user program was starting, so you are being logged off.

Contact the system administrator for assistance."


I've figured out a bit of a workaround sending Ctrl-Alt-End via a key task,which at least lets me bring up the Task Manager and launch a CMD, but if I close that failure message, I'm immediately logged off.

Is there anything better?

Hi Ken,


I'm not sure why you are seeing this error but you could try to specify the Start Program in the connection properties to start the cmd.exe.
