restricting choice of credentials for specific subfolders

If you've got lots of credentials the available credential picker may not be enough. To my knowledge, there is currently no way of restricting the choice of credentials in any way. You always get the full list. In the screenshot attached you'll see a folder-subfolder structure where every main folder is some kind of environment or topic. If you add a new connection to such a main folder (or subfolder of the main folder) it would be very helpful if you were able to restrict the choices of credentials to those placed in that main folder or, e.g., in a subfolder called "credentials".
Any other or more general way of restricting the choice of credentials based on some kind of parametrization would be appreciated.
