Is it possible to use the file sharing/transfer options built into iTunes to copy RTSZ files to a mobile device, or are we required to use a cloud service? Royal TSi Free is listed in the available applications that can transfer documents between the mobile device and iTunes, but I see no way of opening the files in Royal TSi.

This is currently not possible so you have to use a cloud provider, send it via email or something similar.
Version 2.0.8 is almost finished, but I'll add it to the todo list for 2.0.9.
